On 20 November 2025, Eswatini officially launched the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2026–2030, setting a five-year roadmap for collaboration between the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini and the UN. The launch attracted a diverse range of participants, from government leaders and diplomatic representatives to civil society, the private sector, academia, media, and members of the UN Country Team, demonstrating the shared commitment to inclusive and sustainable national development.
The UNSDCF 2026–2030 seeks to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals by aligning closely with the National Development Plan. It emphasizes strengthening institutions, improving service delivery, enhancing economic competitiveness, and mobilizing development financing. Key themes such as gender equality, human rights, inclusion, and digital transformation are central to ensuring that all Liswati benefit from national development initiatives.
Eswatini Economic Policy Analysis & Research Centre (ESEPARC) played a valuable role in supporting the framework’s development, contributing through research, drafting, and stakeholder engagement. These efforts helped shape a framework that is both responsive to national priorities and reflective of the perspectives of a wide range of development partners.
Focusing on a smaller number of strategic joint programmes, the UNSDCF encourages innovative partnerships across government, civil society, the private sector, academia, and development agencies. By fostering collective action, the framework aims to drive sustainable, inclusive, and resilient development across Eswatini.
As the UNSDCF takes effect on 1 January 2026, ESEPARC remains committed to supporting evidence-based policymaking and contributing to the country’s development agenda.
